is it possible to shoot a movie with the camera put down? when i see the picture of the Sanyo Xacti C40 for example it seems to me that when you put it down somewhere, it is pointing up with an angle of about 40° so you can't shoot horizontally without holding it tilt??

other question : is there a night mode on the Sanyo Xacti C40? if not how is it shooting movies or taking pictures by night with this camera?

The Sanyo Xacti series cameras do not have a flat base like all other digital cameras, therefore it will not stand upright on its own and you need a mini-tripod to keep it upright for shots, if you are not holding it.

And yes it does have a night mode:

I recommend the Joby Gorillapod for a versatile pocketable lightweight mini-tripod. I've been very pleased with mine for use withthe C6.
