hey guys,
I use a Canon 550D but plan on getting a sigma lens.... what would you recommend (so far i have the kit lens 18 - 55) and need a strong lens for bird and wildlife shots.... people have recommended the 50 - 500 but i havent had the chance to try it yet (i tried the 150 - 500) is one better than the other? second question... i saw a picture someone took of the moon using the 50 - 500 with a 2X teleconverter to get it to 1000mm.... would this seriously decrease the quality? |

I shoot with the 50-500, highly recommended:
A day @ the beach... I like the 10x range as from the kayak I don't really want to change lens, and sometime I can get by with the 50mm for landscape...

The old model
-> the alternative is the Tamron 200-500 which is sharper bu not as fast in focus

Was the 150 - 500 you tried the early model or the DG? The early 135-400 had the reputation of being poorly damped for lens creep and sliding freely when pointed downwards - how was the 150-500 you tried in that regard?
