Im struggling getting a good exposure with my 7D when the subjects are backlit... like standing in a window.

The obvious answer would be... move away from the window!.... but one of the places Im trying to shoot is with subjects in front of a cruise ship window.

Whats the best way to set up the 7D to shoot backlit subjects? Im using a sunpak ADI flash....

Are you using spot metering on your subjects?

I've done similar, I spot meter and use exposure lock on my subject, then compose my shot.
