I just picked up a 7D (EBAY, waiting to arrive) to use with my Maxxum 9000 AF lenses. Will my Maxxum 4000 AF External Flash from my Maxxum 9000 work properly with the 7D?

If you want TTL controlled flash exposure you will need a digital compatible flash such as the Minolta 3600HS(D) or the 5600HS(D) or the Sony equivalenys, HVL-F36AM and HVL-F56AM.

The 4000AF will trigger but can only be used in manual mode. You will also need a shoe adapter.

A lower cost solution is to use a third-party, non-dedicated flash (the auto thyristor style). JimC has mentioned the exact SunPak models in a few threads in this forum.

Good luck!
