Saw a few items that say they have the crossed X's on their Minolta Maxxum 50 1.7's, is ther anything different about these than the normal Maxxum?

Only that fewer of these were produced, thereby (theoretically) making them more valuable to a "collector", or anyone really, that wants a "different" lens. As far as IQ goes, I have not heard that theirs is any better. FWIW. Robert

The original Maxxum logo had overlapping, or crossed X's, but Exxon sued because thier logo had crossed X's, so Minolta had to stop.

Collectors like the crossed X's, but as far as use is concerned:
  1. optically, they are identical to the equivalent non-crossed X lenses, and [/*]
  2. they are older.[/*]

Minolta made several of the Maxxum crossed xx lenses. Optically they are exactly the same. I have both and the only difference I see in the two is how it is built. The xx version has a little more metal in it and less plastic parts. Its probably a little better build but does not produce any better photos.

Hope this helps,
