Default Minolta 24-105

Any 1st hand experience w/ this lens?

It gets very good scores at Dyxum, but I was wondering if someone here has it.

It is a relatively new(er) Minolta D lens (year 2000) and **it should** be relatively fast/lightweight. I got 2 old Minolta lenses, the trusted 50 1.7, and the 28-85, which is OK, but heavier than the camera, heh.

The 24-105 can be found for $250 online in like new condition - wondering if it is the best lens for the $.

It's better than the old kit lens (Sony 18-70) but some claim not that good on FF. On APSC, it's fine. It's faster (F4.5 vs F5.6 for kit) and sharper. The quality drops somewhat above 70mm, though. For a little more, you can get Sigma 17-70mm on ebay. That's even sharper and also has less CA.
