Sorry. No. As JimC has said, the Sony 75-300 isn't very good. The Tamron 70-300 Di LD is better but still not great, and for from Raptors up to Deer or Moose, 300mm isn't going to get you very far, especially if you're going to crop a 10MP image, and especially by 50%. You'd be better off with something longer.

It's a little out of you rprice range, but KEH.com has some used Minolta 100-400 APO lenses for between $450 and $550, depending on condition and included accessories. This is a very good lens at a very good price, and will serve you better than an inexpensive 7X-300 lens. KEH.com also has one of the Vivitar 100-400 Series 1 lenses that JimC was talking about, for $159
