I'm looking at a couple dSLR's with the KM 7D at the top of the list so far. Looking the 7D's reviews, I haven't seen anything that indicates the 7D has Depth of Field (DOF) preview capability - can anyone comment? And if so, how does it work? Thanks in advance!

You'll see a small button by the lens mount at the bottom on the side where the AS logo is.

When you press on this button, the aperture will stop down to the currently metered or selected aperture until you release it.

Then, you can see what Depth of Field will look like prior to taking the shot (and you may see the viewfinder get darker, depending on how much smaller the metered or selected aperture is compared to the largest aperture available on the lens).

Unless you press this button so you can see what Depth of Field will look like, the camera keeps the aperture set wide open (largest aperture or smallest f/stop number), until the photo is actually taken. That way, the camera can see better to focus, and your viewfinder is brighter.

The KM 5D and 7D both have adepth of field preview button.
