Don't know if anyone is still interested in the H2but I just purchased a new H2 at Office Max for $249. This is a gift for my son and I thought it would be a good first camera. I was going to buy a Cannon IS3 but I couldn't pass up the price on the H2. Hope I madethe right decision. We really enjoy my H1.

I think he will be happy. I have a H5 I carry everywhere I go. Also the teleconverter lens is very nice.

Wow. That's a really good deal. I know when my daughters were first into digital cameras, they liked the early Olympus C-720 and C-740 ultrazooms. They gravitated to cameras of the ultrazoom type that they used at zoos. Of late they have enjoyed the Sony H series with the IS. Sounds like a great choice for your son (and at a great price :-)

Well Simon over at DPReview recons the H2 is the pick of the Sony H camera's for image quality, and for the price you paid has got to be a steal, well done.

Thanks for the feedback and I'm glad I could help someone else get a good deal. However, before we open the box in another week or so, I may give the Fuji 6000FD a look. It can be had atthe same price including a $50 rebate. I don't know if this is a better camera than the H2, but the manual focus is something I like. The Fuji does lack true image stabilization and that may give the H2 an advantage at high zoom.

S3 or H2 gotdifferent performance. And my wife(good eyes telling pix) compared steves' famous playground and kayak photos. H2 wins by a neck.

I like canon's unlimited burst mode but there's 2 things i can't stand canon:

1. no 3:2 image recording

2. no aperture reading when setting to shutter speed priority prior to pressing shutter button half-way.

so i bought a H2 for 300 cadyesterday. so far so good.

oh thanks for the clearance info by the way.
