Default movie pixel question

HI! I am new here so maybe this has been covered. I am looking at a digital camera that will take video with sound at 30 frames per second at 640 x 480 pixels. How does this compare to the video quality that a digital camcorder will shoot? I looked online to no avail. Please help if you know. Thanks!

Default Movie pixels etc

There's a sample movie on the web - It might be on WWW.DPREVIEW.COM - but I'm not sure./ It shows that the quality is sill a long way from that of even a humble digital recorder and possibly not even as good as - say - an 8mm video camcorder.
The quality isn't bad, however, but gives the impression that the picture was taken at about 320x240 and interpolated up to a 640x480 image size. The image is fairly smooth (definitely no jerking) but still, somehow, gives the impression of jerking - Hard to describe really. Won't it be amazing when we have a recorder that'll have:
1) 12x I.S. zoom - say 25mm-300
2) True HDTV quality movie files
3) 20 megapixel still files
4) Noise free ISO speeds of 25-3200
5) 50GB storage media
6) Waterproof

I reckon that specification will be here sooner than you think!

That's about what I thought, but I was hoping there wasn't so much of a difference between the quality of the 2 movie types. Thanks. Anyone else?
