Default Another Sony DSC-910 question

Well, I arrived at this site because of a Hardware Installation and Maintenance class assignment to write a paper on digital cameras. This is timely because I have used my new Sony DSC-P10 for the third time since getting it as a gift for Christmas. This last time I took pictures at my niece's birthday party and ALL of my pictures turned out blurry and disgusting. Granted, some of the pictures were of an extremely mobile little girl, but also some pictures were of the cake and decorations which the last time I checked don't move. I had experienced blurriness before and was thinking in the back of my mind that perhaps a trip to the doctor to investigate some shakey hands might be in order.

So, my question is... is this camera a lost cause? Should I take it back or perhaps is it operator error??? Being that we are now 4-months since the purchase I am concerned we would even be able to exchange it... any help or advise you could offer would be great.
