the sony dsc w1 camera has auto white balance and 6 preset ones for incandescent, cluody, beach etc. But do you know how to override the auto white balance and set it to my own custom one? Would shooting a piese of white paper help? Only reply if you know for sure, please !!!

there is no way to manually set white balance on the W1.

A firmware update could take care of it, but I doubt Sony would do that for us.

As for the preset modes, there are only 4. "Beach" is a general scene mode and NOT a preset mode for white balance. The preset modes are daylight, cloudy, flouracent, and candescent.

BY the way - is there any way to set manual white balance using software?

i.e. take a picture of white at the scene of the photo, and then set it as the default white on the computer after the photo is already taken?

I suppose its possible, instructions for how to do it on Photoshop (or a link for this) would be greatly appreciated.
