I'm really looking into this camera. It's got many manual functions, it is a fast camera, 4x optical zoom, great lense, a good a LCD as the W1, nightframing???, and a hot shoe!!!

So, just from buying the thing alone, is the flash good? I know, just as with the infamous W-1 flashplacement, it's placed above the lens. The distance seems bigger, though. And I've read there is no sense of red-eye at all when placing a SONY (or other) external flash on the shoe.

The V3 built in flash still causes redeye, but not as bad as the "W" series. Thething that is great about the V3 is that you can turn off the internal flash in the setup menu when you are using the hot shoe.

Red eye is not a major issue with the built in flash, and is non existent with the F32x. The f32 also gives you bounce capability, which when used correctly makes a big difference in quality.
