This is the first digital camera I've ever owned. I bought it mainly because of its size...slips easy into your pocket for parties etc.

I tried taking a few snapshots, but I seem to be getting blurry pictures almost constantly (only indoor shots so far). Also, the time from when I hit the capture button to when the picture actually shows up (shutter speed I guess?) is kinda long, so I figure it's mainly that and my unsteady hand making a mess of things.

I'd appreciate any tips for a beginner like me to get this thing to take better shots. I realize people seem to either love or hate this camera, but I've seen plenty of pictures that look rather nice taken with one.

The key to taking decent pictures with this camera is ALOT of light. The brighter the environment the less prone to blurry pictures the camera is. Also, make sure you are half-pressing the shutter button and locking the focus before you take the picture.

You're going to get blurry shots without a flash. With a flash, it shouldn't blur most of the time indoors (except for perhaps very large indoor areas). You can try the following:

1. Manually increase the ISO to 400
2. Try holding it different ways to minimize movement (rest your elbows on torso, hold camera closer to body)
3. Make sure you don't jerk the camera and move it when you push the shutter release
