Default F717 - need experienced help (image size vs. quality)

The largest size picture I ever print is a 8x10, mostly 5x7's or 4x6's - Is there a difference in image quality from 1280x960 compared to the larger settings? I usually save my photo's in 1280x960 mode, because I can fit more on my memory stick.
1280x960 = @ 600k, compared to 2560x1920 = 2MB.

For the size prints I'm printing, is it worth bumping up a setting?
All photo's are saved in FINE mode of course.

Appreciate any advice.

Thats an easy one! You should ALWAYS use the Highest resolution even for a 4x6 image. If you want to save memory, use standard JPG instead of fine - that will save a lot. But do not use the lower size resolution images since you are throwing away actual detail in the image. The more pixels = more detail. And detail is what makes image quality in any camera, at any size photo.

Clear ?

I don't have an F717 (but I sure want one!), though I have used one. I took some pictures with the standard jpg compression, and while I could see some quality degredation compared to fine, the pictures are so huge that there was no perceptable difference when the pictures were resized to 1024x768.
