Really loving this 300 2.8 L IS. Use the 1.4x (420mm) and 2x (600mm). Makes for two very holdable and sharp configurations. This is a mixture of both.

Nice shots. Looks like you were shooting from the sand, not from the pier. I have a house down on the south end of HB, 1/4 mile from the beach. I've walked the pier many times watching the early morning surfers -- not a few of whom are skipping some morning classes to catch a good wave or two.

Thanks

I shoot from the pier sometimes but when the waves are smaller the added height just takes away from an already small wave. These are surfers that will be in the competition starting Saturday. There were at least three different teams there during this shoot.. Australia, Sweden and South Africa. I'm sure there are more.

I saw your shot in the weekly challenge section of the wetlands. I shoot there sometimes. I have several posts of pelicans from there.

Agreed - nice shots. It's especially nice to see something so different - really no surfing going on here on the "beautiful shores" of Lake Erie :-)

Widowmaker

Hope you don't mind the "piggyback" on your post, but here's one I took off of the pier in HB and played with using a PS2 action called History Sketch. I thought it created an interesting effect. PS, I used a 20D and my 70-200 2.8L IS with a 1.4 extender.
