As you will see from my other thread I had some interesting anomalies with white balance but have done correction (as well as I can) on these.

I have only tried volleyball twice before when I was a Konica Minolta 5D user but AF was not fast enough and noise was too bad at 3200. I believe exif is still intact so won't share settings but kit was Canon 30D and Sigma 70-200 f2.8.

These are OK but not great as light was low and f2.8 was not bright enough. Any suggestions to improve (apart from get the 85mm f1.8 or similar:blah? Where are the best places to stand, how high to you stand (crouch, kneel, etc) and anything else I should know).

Oh forgot to mention this is the team that I play for (we play only in local league but this time was against a national team so being one of the newer players I knew I would not be on court so took the camera).

Thanks,

Mark

Mark,

Good shots. Love the expression on the last one. Sharp and good action. Only technical issue is the colors are a bit flat so you might want to boost saturation and maybe brightness.

As for where to stand - it depends on what you want to shoot and what lens you have. I like to shoot from behind the ref at the net so I can get digs and sets and such. Then from the behind the back line to shoot blocks and spikes through the net. I've also seen some great shots from people taken from above.

Nice job!

LOL.... that's Ben, he is one of our better players and as you can tell is abit of a character. Is it just me or did your net look a little low???

style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #000000"I love the game, it's a shame that I will miss this weeks match as I am in London so will have to wait two weeks now to play as it is a week off next week!!

IC, so you are short then...... there are two of us on our team who are 6'6" although my jump is not great, something to do with eating too much LOL.

I bet you miss playing as much then if the knees are not good.
