Thanks Steven. I have to say, that's one thing I like about basketball - you usually get some great expressions.

John, not sure how I missed your post (probably should get some new glasses..... nah will put the money towards a new lens!!)........

A great series of shots and the only one that does not really do anything for me is the last bball one as there is not much in the expression or action. I have to agree with Steven on these that 1 and 4 are the strongest shots.

What settings were you managing to get in there?

Thanks Mark.

Unfortunately I was relegated to ISO 1600, f1.8 and 1/400. But, that's fairly typical for high school gyms here in the States - at least if you want to get a correct exposure. I'd rather shoot at 2.0 or 1.8 and have a good exposure then stop the lens down and get more noise when I have to correct the exposure. This way you can still get decent 8x10 prints.

Good shooting John. I like #5 and 6 as you see the player in mid air about to make the hoop. What wouldcomplete the pic for me is to see the top ring of the hoop.

Thanks Spy. I understand your point completely. It's the one drawback to using an 85mm lens on a 1.6 crop body. It's easier to get the rim in with a college level player. I may have to give the 50mm a try next week. I'm in complete agreement - there is something about seeing the rim that makes a big difference.

Thanks for the feedback!
