Thanks all - sorry about the exif. All shots in manual mode at ISO 1600 and 1/400. Aperture varied by gym from 1.8 - 2.2.

style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #000000"Now I gotta get RonG to share his flash info - check out his recent shots they're awesome. I try to steer clear of flash because it's a bit limiting but after seeing his recent shots I may have to rethink that approach.

I know this is not for most gyms but I shot in one last night that allowed me to shoot 3.5 A and 500 SS at 1600 ISO. Would it be desirable to drop the Aperture to 2.8 and speed up the Shutter or the other way around?

I could not drop to 800 ISO I lost too much.

rp33 - I don't thing there's a clear-cut way to go. The problem with the narrow aperture of course is you get more distracting backgrounds. But if you're having a lot of OOF shots, then the added DOF is helpful.

So,my advice is: if you're getting more OOF, then use the narrow aperture. If you're satisfied with the amount of keepers you can get, use the faster shutter speed.

Wrams, I'll work on a soccer post!

Mod Note:

This thread is now a sticky (a.k.a., announcement type post that stays at the top of the threads list). My thanks to JohnG for starting it.
