Shot this last fall where I coach soccer. This is not my team but the Preps (7th & 8th grade) Shot this from the corner flag. Used spot metering which helped this particular camera to focus faster.

Greetings. I'm jealous to see outdoor sports. I'm getting antsy - softball and baseball are supposed to be under way but it's been raining all week so all games have been cancelled.

Focus and exposure look good in these and the colors are nice as well - verry rich. But I have to say I'm not a fan of the bokeh the lens is providing - not just the 5.6 aperture, but the actual bokeh or quality of the blur. Still, for the money, it's tough to complain - the photos are pretty sharp.

IMO shots 1 & 3 would work better with much tighter crops - I'm not sure the extra players add much. And I think 1-3 would all work better with portrait crops instead of landscape. That would be my one recommendation for next shoot - take more shots in portrait orientation which allows tighter framing without cutting out the ball.

John,

I agree with your adjustments to these shots. These are just as is. I did not try or bother to crop. Only resize. I purposely set my camera to brighter and more saturation just to see what the camera would do with jpegs.

Spot focusing and metering worked better for me with this camera and I found it did fairly decent for a $90 lens as well. The boys were thrilled to get the full set of shots I took of them playing.
