OK, it was 75 on Wednesday when I took these. It snowed yesterday and is in the 30s today. Go figure.

C&C always welcome.

First, the plays at the bases.

1. Turnin' Two:

2. Safe at third

3. Safe at the plate

4. Getting the routine grounder for out #1

5. Chargin' from second..

And now for the obligatory shots of the pitchers :-)

Love number 3, great timing on this one. What is up with the fielder in number one, this looks so natural?! I guess that it is that we don't normally see these frozen so never see how strange it looks.

As for the weather that would be about right if you were in England, it can never make up its mind.

The running joke here is: "if you don't like the weather, wait 5 minutes"

Yeah, people can have some pretty strange looks on their faces. I remember a thread from a year or two ago entitles "sports faces" - pretty humorous.

As for the play at the plate, the coach from the green team was a bit riled up that the player didn't slide (I'm too lazy to make a copy without my watermark on it):

LOL so it's not just crazy weather here then..... oh and the sports faces was a thread I started as there were so many crazy expressions out there. Possibly we will have to resurrect it and see what people are capturing.

John,
I really like 3 ( the action), 4 (ball in the shot), & 5 (facial expression). What lens/focal length were these shot at?

Thanks Allen. They were taken with sigma 120-300 2.8 wide open at 2.8. Focal lengths differ (benefit of using a zoom). The key part of the equation IMO is the 2.8

Great shots!! What else can I say. Do you have a gallery? I would enjoy looking through it. If you could email me the address if you don't not want to post it.

Thanks Btrips!

No I don't mind posting my gallery. One thing you should understand though is that I sell to parents so there are a lot of what I call 'sportrait' shots in my galleries. That is: just shots of athletes not doing anything. So, generally when I cover an event for posting on my site I'm looking to get a good number of shots of each player. Because that's my driving force, I tend to miss some action. If I were shooting primarily for newspaper, the reverse would be true (I'd have less shots but they would be all action shots). So, keep that in mind when you view - they aren't all action shots.
