one question....is that transport really an "F27"? I thought "F" was reserved for fighter aircraft.....don't know, just wondering....

BTW, maybe you said it someplace, but where was this air show?
F27 was Fokker's designation for this twin turboprop, short-range passenger plane. Since it was made by a foreign company, the usual "F for fighter" naming conventions didn't apply... Fairchild built the same model, using the same designation, under license in the US, and called it the "Friend Ship".

thanks squirl for the clarification

The airshow was at Andrews Airforce Base right outside Washington DC, its the joint services open house thry have every year

Storms just north of us most the day kept the skies gray as you can see in the pics

The F-22 Raptor demo was unreal, im pretty jaded in this fashion but seeing this thing made a believer out of me!

I live nearby, so I saw the air show both days. Saturday the sky was clearer, but the shadows were more harsh.

I loved that heritage flight. The P-51 looks so small compared to the rest.

Last year the heritage flight was an A-4, an A-6, an A-10 and an F/A-18. That was spectacular.

I'm still sorting through all my shots. Unfortunately, many of mine suffer from CA.

Great shots, btw. Thanks for sharing.

Definately thanks for sharing. Great shots. I arrived too late for the heritage flight at this year's local airshow which consisted of the same P51 (Gunfighter) and an A10.

Here's a static photo of that P51.
