Just took today. Still have to deal with a manual focus lens 300mmF4 of Pentax

Daniel,

Focus seems OK, but the framing and timing could use some work.

Timing - you want to capture the dig as close as possible to peak action - meaning as close to the arm striking the ball as you can. This is either too early or too late can't really tell which.

Framing - The background and even the other player don't add anything to the shot, so you want it framed tight around the player doing the dig. Everything else is extraneous in this shot. Although if you were using a 300mm prime you were too far away - you need to be a lot closer so the in-camera framing is tighter.

There is also something interfering with the frame up by the ball - not sure if it's some sort of tentyou're shooting out from or not. If your timing gets fixed this wouldn't be an issue. But with the current shot, it's right on top of the ball and thus distracting.

Good luck on your next shoot and thanks for sharing!

John,

Agreed with your constructive comment . Not many time do we get this in Steve forum. Fast action shots have always been my weak spot for my retirement age eyesight. Got to improve. Hope this summer I can work on it. Thanks

Dragon boat races..hmmm learn something new everyday! I like the 2nd one the best...showing the geesescurrying for their lives, good colors, intense faces, etc...The 3rd one..Id like to see cropped even more. Isolate the woman in pink and lets see the intensity in her face. Everything else is too distracting-for me. Have any more? Id love to see em!
