It's been a while - almost 6 weeks since I last shot sports. Here are a few from this weekend:

Safe at 2nd:

You guess the pitch:

Thanks Mike. As for the exif - it's not that I intentionally hide it. But my website is hosted by smugmug. And something in their resizing gets rid of it. The exif is still in the original size image files on smugmug but when I link to smaller photos you can't get at it. Is there a particular shot you're interested in? If so I could cut/paste the exif here.

John,

Are these shots taken with your 1D MK III?

yes. still not as popping as I would like - but consistent. I'll probably try to calibrate the lens this weekend and see if I get an improvement.

Went through some calibration tests that seem to indicate a slight back-focus (+7 adjustment on scale of 1 to 20). I think I've got it dialed in now. We'll see after the next time out.

correction - I meant it was front focusing.

I really like the pitching pictures, john. That's a 2 finger fast ball by the way.

There's not much money in baseball around these parts, I've done a couple of big tournaments and I just don't shoot sports that don't generate money so I've stayed away from baseball, however I have been shooting my son's team for a year-end DVD still-picture video which will be distributed to the team members at the end of the year.

It's hard to tell in the picture...but it looks like it might be a 4 seam fastball with an odd grip based on the rotation of the pitch after it's left his hand. Every fastball is a "2 finger" fastball!

That's a Split-Finger Fastball.
