This week, we returned to our home stadium with its fairly high quality lights. Although that meant I was confined to the PA booth, I had confidence that me new shooter, a talented young lady unafraid to get close enough to make a short lens work, would bring home some good shots. I wasn't disappointed, as most required me to do little or no PP.

All shots were taken with the Takumar manual focus f2.8 135mm lens. Although I think all of these shots were taken at ISO 1600, we had sufficient light to start the game at ISO 640 and gradually moved it up as the game went along. I showed her how to keep the shutter speed up by first adjusting ISO and, if necessary, how to add negative exposure compensation to produce a shutter speed of at least 1/200 at all times. The lighting enabled us to not have to use EC at all until the second half, and never to go above -0.7. Keep ratio was also decent....at 5.2%

On this shot, I like the focus on the lineman with the QB in the background.

(BTW John, and others, on the question of an indoor low-light lens, I ordered a Pentax SCMP FA-50mm f1.4 (autofocus) Thursday night to useindoors--should be here next week--can't wait to see what it will do)

Under the circumstances when these were taken and what it was taken with I would say that this is impressive to me.

Ever think of changing them to monotone?

Interesting idea......I really think #2 is much better. I don't think it works as well on #1 because of the light gold top panel on the Trojan jersey (not enough contrast with the white jerseys)
