nice shot but too much ofa crop - it's hurting your focus. In daylight you want 2/3 of the frame filled with your subject - this is about half. I know it's tough - especially with soccer. I can't follow my own advice with soccer and it's my lowest keeper rate of any sport I shoot. If I could just follow my own advice I'd probably tripple my keeper rate :G

I agree! I have been going back throughthe data from my fall soccer pics and it has become clear now that the boys on a full size field I have been over reaching with my 200. Time to get longer. Looking real hard the sigma 100-300 f4, since they have two more years at least of daytime sports. I already have sigma 1.4tc.

thanks

Great choice of lens as there is nothing in that price range with the quality. It is pretty much the sharpest lens in the Sigma line up and at f4 you will be able to shoot the day games very well. Even with the 1.4TC on it gives very acceptable results, much better than you get with the 70-200mm.

Good stuff, John. Looks like the twelve commandments of sports photography. I'll be printing that out to tape to my camera case.
