Our player coach getting stressed with the refs

2)

Team catain with a free throw

3)

A recent signing on the mark

4)

2&3 were shot with a borrowed 70-200IS and untouched, 4 shot with a 85f1.8 and untouched.

Hey, so sorry for not getting back to your pm, I've been bad!! I was shooting other things this weekend so didn't have a chance to look at getting to the BBall. How did you find the 70-200?

style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #000000"I'm not a BBall expert (never shot it) but they look nice clean images!

No worries Mark, I figured you must have a previous engagement.

The 70-200 felt really heavy compared to the 85 but I would get used to it .

quite pleased with the results.

Sorry guys but my Photobucket account rotated the shots, don't know how/why, !

Player /coach cropped and had a quick fix.

sharpness looks good but they're way underexposed. I do believe that gym takes the cake as the worst lit gym I've seen. Although I see ISO 1600, F2.8 and 1/400 which is a full stop underexposed from the relatively well lit HS gym I shoot in. But those shots at that exposure are a good 1.6 stops underexposed.

I think it's time to consider external flash or strobes.

John, only the first shot was at the "Black Hole " known as Newcastle Arena (my home gym!

However the other three were taken at a much better lit venue.

I was a bit stressed out and maybe should have dropped the shutter speed a bit to get some better exposure, especially as they weren't fast moving subjects.

Thanks Dave

No, the major problem is trying to use the 70-200 2.8 at ISO 1600. Your 85mm shot is much better exposed. So, either bump to 3200 to use the 70-200 or stick with the 85. Unless you're never going to take action shots, why limit yourself to just static shots by using the 70-200 at iso 1600?
