Frisky,

Looks like you got some really good shots. #1 is a good shot, just wish you could see his face during the shot. The background is just a tad distracting. #2 is probably my favorite, great action, captured great emotion. It almost looks like thereis a slight blur on the ball and net, could be just me though. #3 is also good action, again, looks like there is a slight blur on the arm and hand. #5 Although you cant see the face, it's a great action shot. #6 looks a little out OOF on the main subjects. The guy on the bottom right looks like it is more in focus. The game looks like it was exciting to shoot. You got some really good shots. Great work !!

Congrats.... I think we will end up 2nd but will soon see.

I agree #2 would have been the best but is either OOF or it is motion blur. With your mkIII don't scrimp on ISO, you can easily use 3200 if well exposed and 6400 is also fine (ensure you nail exposure though). Here you have only used ISO2000 and with the shutter at 1/400s I think you have missed some sharpness/clarity. At ISO3200 you would have been at 1/640s making a good difference.

Also I would straighten the shots, only minor to do but really impacts on the final result.

So the question will soon be, what are you going to shoot in the down season?

Mark

Thanks Mark, the venue was so much brighter than I am used to so I dropped the ISO instead of upping the shutter speed.

Learning all the time !

After the BBL is over I will be shooting "Gridiron" and some motorcycle racing.

Cheers Dave

Good timing on most of these and AWB seems to have nailed what looks like a difficult place to shoot. A few of them look too soft however. Im thinking its OOF instead of slower shutter speeds. What are your focus settings? From what Ive read that beast is a very fast focusing camera. Curious as to where the problem lies.
