Shooting with my new Sigma 120-300. little long for the gym, but needed to test it. I find it hard to focus with this lens, not as fast as the 70-200L. Also not as heavy as I thought. here are some samples. I've blotched out the school names.

On second thought, i should have used the 70-200 2.8L later in the tournament. mostly shooting in 120mm, didn't give me much fov to really catch action shots with badminton and shooting through a net was not at all desireable, kept throwing off my focus. I think the worst part was the white tape on the net and height of the kids, the faces having same placement as the white tape. Lighting was poor, shooting at 1600iso and 320th shutter, action would be very limited. Lets just say I was pulling out my hair, Next time I may use my 50/1.8 prime.

Sounds like you need to get your hands on a 85mm f1.8, this is a favorite lens by a lot shooting indoor sports.... if you need a little longer the 100 f2 is also a good option.

Well Mark, when the wife found about the cost of the last lens I bought, something hit fan. Typing this message from the dog house. Anyway I am trying to stay low and surf the net covertly for a 135L:G. For my own personal safety the 50/1.8 is my choice for now
