Absolutely gorgeous day for an airshow. I haven't been to one in maybe 12-13 years. Let me say - my hat is definitely off to those who photograph the prop planes. That's TOUGH. Anyway, here's the first batch. As always, C&C welcome

Love 'em. Especially that one of the Corsair. I loved the show Baa Baa Blacksheep when that was on TV decades ago.

Overall a real good set, but I have one comment on the first shot. It is too bad the tip of the spinner was cut off. I'd like to see a little space between the tip of the aircraft and the border. For the air show regulars,we have a saying (this pertains to #5 and 6): VAPOR IS GOOD!

Hopefully my air show this weekend will not be a wash out, do have chances for rain.
Good job John

Phil

Nice work John, I really wish I could get to an air show!!!

What lens were you shooting with here, I'm guessing 100-400 for the lightness rather than the 120-300?

Thanks everyone. Phil - I agree - I wish there was more frame on that first pic. But that's how it ended up being framed. I need more practice at panning :G

Mark - yes it was the 100-400. 300mm would have been to short and I'd rather use the 100-400 than 120-300 plus TC. Especially for the prop planes.

That's what I thought, unfortunately not an option I have so if I get to shoot at a show it will have to be the 120-300 + 1.4x TC..... that will build up some muscles.

A great series of pictures. I like #6, showing the mix of vapours and 'thrust' adding a sense of drama to the picture.

I was at this airshow too. I thought I had some good shots until I saw these. Awesome shots.

You might not think they are as good and this could be the case, but post a new thread and share them. Its a great way to learn :-)

Agreed. The best way to improve it to get tips from other sports shooters. Looking forward to seeing a thread with your work!
