Here are some pics from the Australian Open tennis, unfortunately they had a 200mm lens restriction for the public. I don't normally shoot people sports so take it easy on me all you basketball, footballpros.

hmmmm, we seem to be missing the v8's lol.

Some great shots even with the 200mm limit. Which lens did you take? It looks like you were able to get pretty close to the action and court level rather than from high up in the stands so that was great.

Does this mean you are branching out to more people sports?

Some nice shots. I've always wanted to shoot pro tennis. There's a lot of opportunities for great expression and you can really see the muscle tone.

Shot 4 is great timing - I would suggest a little PP to bring out some of the details on her face though as it's in shadow.

Shot 5 has all the elements of a great shot except the ball in the frame.

Tennis is one of those sports that can be difficult - harsh lighting, fast action and starts/stops by the players without a lot of time to track. All of which means getting sharp faces, with proper exposure and capturing the ball are very difficult. No doubt you'd knock the timing down with a couple more outings. But exposing faces properly is something you haven't had to deal with. As long as the exposer isn't too far off, the dodge and burn tools can be your best friends in post processing.

Great first stab though!

Not for much longer have the world Superbike Champinonship round in late Feb & the Formula 1 GP in March.

Had a seat in the lower level & used my 70-200 f2.8 L. Had a1.4x TC do get some extra length (even tried stacked TCs).

And about branching out you never know Its nice to try something diffrent.

Thanks John, went to watch the tennis and took the camera along to fire off some shots. Lighting was good in theoutside courts (shot 1) buttough in the stadium due to shadows from stands & retractable roof. Was limited with my seat which had a restricted view (purchased ticket atthe last moment)umpires, playerschairs with huge sun shaders over them & TV camera men in front of me.
