I haven't posted in a long time so I thought I would show a few from this weekend's meet in Athens, Georgia. We also attended the last home meet for the Gymdogs at the University of Georgia and I was hoping to get some photos, however from our seat location, I didn't have a 800mm lens handy.

C&C welcome...one from the floor...

Gymnastic shots are tough. You did well under the circumstances.

If it were possible to shoot with less distraction in the background you will have a shot that focuses on the gymnast.

A bit of cropping can improve a shot. I gave it a go to illustrate that. It is a matter of what one likes or not ultimately.

Great shots all off them, nice color & sharpness, like the vaul shot best. What shutter speeds & ISO were you using out of curiosity?

vIZnquest,

I wish there had been anywhere I could have moved to in order to improve backgrounds! Most of the meets present you with little opportunities even when shooting at f2.

Your cropping does look better than mine, it was a moderate to heavycrop in the first place and I didn't want to push it.

TG,

I shot floor and vault with an 85mm 1.8 and the beam with a 135mm 2.0. My settings I believe were Tv 1/500, Av 2.0 and ISO 1600.

Thanks, both of you, for your comments!

Chris
