I was thinking of adding this new lens to my D90 for indoor volleyball sports shooting. I have the 85mm f1.8 lens and love it. Trouble is....with club volleyball, I have easy access to courtside shooting - from 5 feet off the court and the 85mm is just a bit too long for this position. Nikon's press release says nothing of sports use for this lens and says its more for landscape and portraits. I know its not out yet and no one has had any first hand experience with it but what do you think? Thanks

I wouldn't count on it. First, you won't get much reach with such a lens. Even 50mm is tough - better for kills on your side of the floor vs. the 85 but not long enough to reach much of the court. A 35 migth provide some interesting perspective shots as a change of pace but wouldn't give you many useful shots. I certainly wouldn't buy one just for sports.
