Default Golf

Hi guys and girls, no you are not seeing things, I actually got out and shot some sports!!! I really hope some of you were sitting down before you read this LOL.

My golf club were running its annual captains day competition where we raise money for the charity of the captains choice. I was playing at 8.20 so I said I would get out and shoot from the end of my round to help raise some more money with photo sales.

It was a long day and being unorganised I hadn't got my monopod, it always used to live in the boot (trunk) of my car but obviously I had taken it out as it wasn't being used..... oops. Holding at 1D mkIII with Sigma 120-300mm f2.8 and 1.4x TC is not light after a while, especially for someone out of practise.

However I did manage to get some shots that I'm happy with, especially as this was my first time out shooting golf. Please let me know what you think and what I can consider for next time.

As you will notice light wasn't my friend with some nasty back/side lighting to contend with a lot of the time but I did my best.

Nice work Mark. I personally like the chip shots - those are always my favorites.

Thanks John, I agree, and I was always willing the balls to pull up short of the green or even better drop in a bunker...... also that would have given me a better chance of winning LOL, but mainly for the more interesting shots

Hi Mark, I agree the chip shots work best, probably more 'action'. Especially like #2 and #9 as they sort of tell a story in it's own right, player, ball and finally the flag! Take it you didn't win then ;-( Steve

Unfortunately not, I was 13th out of 104 so can't complain too much with that.

Not a bad set considering the light Mark! (if you could number the pics it would be helpful). 13th isn't bad what handicap do you play off?. Kind regards Graham.

Thanks Graham. Numbering the photos is not an option as I don't have these hosted on my site rather they are attachments using the new system where we can do 5 per post but can't get in there to add any notes around them. Yes basically I was being lazy, but it is a lot easier to do this way.

I'm new to this golf game as only really got into it about 3 months ago so off 28 but now playing consistently to about 24 so my handicap is slowly coming down and after the next competition should drop to 27. I keep trying to get out and practise to stay above any reductions.

Very nice. I really like the ones with the blast of sand/dirt/grass. The first one is neat the way the ball and tee are captured. I hope the guys and girls enjoyed them - they should!
