Still trying to get better so any suggestions are welcome. Still using my kit lens. 55-200 4.5-5.6. Worked in manual and was trying to adjust my exposure and white balance on the fly. Thanks again.

what size are most of you posting on here? Seems my previous pics were a little large and these may be a little too small. Thanks

I've recently gone for 720 for the longest side no matter which orientation as this is then also optimised for Facebook (sad but true).

Previously I did 800 for landscape and 700 for portrait.

Yours are looking a bit small so will wait for larger to be able to comment.

I went 800x800 on these updated ones. They seem a little better. They seemed a lot sharper on my monitor before I uploaded to here. I tried very little cropping.

Thanks

Do these look any better? I think #2 is a little overexposed but I was fighting the sun going in and out of the clouds. I shot everything in portrait mode.

Thanks

Yes I believe so. They do look better. The main problem with photo 2 is that the green player gets lost in a sea of yellow.

I'm trying to tell if the first is out of focus a little, shot too far away and cropped or just not had any sharpening applied in post production prior to posting here. Also the face is a bit under exposed.

In the 2nd we have no face and the action isn't really there.

Key aspects for most sports photos, faces, ball, action of some sort or a sportrait, even though these are not football, and not great as I'm really out of practise at sports they give you an idea of what I mean. Rugby

Thanks Mark. I am going to try and give it another go tomorrow. Hopefully I can get some action on my side of the field.

Thanks again for everyone's comments!
