Dave,
My recommendation for the "go to" sports camera would be the Nikon D3s with 400mm 2.8, 300mm 2.8, 70-200 2.8 vrII and 24-70 2.8.

I think that would make a most excellent sports camera setup and would cover just about anything you wanted to shoot.

Thanks John...... I'm not planning on getting a D-SLR for sports just wondering what you were using since you seem to really know your stuff. Hard yes that would break the bank. I'm still waiting for my dream camera to come out for now the Fuji HS10 is doing ok.

Dave, I'm not using a D3s.
I use a Canon 1dIII - which is a very good camera itself. As for knowing about sports - thanks. I got better by getting out of mutual admiration society forums and seeking out help / critiques from people that shot sports better than I did.

But sports shooting is one of those areas where the right gear really makes a huge difference.

Both in regards to technique and gear. I don't do it as much anymore as family life has taken over. But it's fun to do every now and again.
