Default Football C&C

Do not attach a Canon 300 2.8 to your 7D and go shoot football..........it will make you only want one.

A few from last week. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. I have one more to shoot tomorrow.

Really nice work Frank. I have always avoided shooting with the 300 2.8 (I use sigma 120-300 2.8) as I am well aware how good it is and don't want to want one Great series. Very well done. The only nit is the WB - definite color cast in the skin tones - that's tough with available light football though as you rarely have even WB across the field. I don't know of anyone who has the perfect solution to that problem though. Very good stuff!

Thanks John. I'll work on that WB.

I made it a little cooler, how does it look now?

Yep! Looks better. It's coming back to me a bit now - skin tones are great but so is the grass - the quickest approach is to get the yellow tone out of the grass and the skin follows right along. But your adjustment to me makes a big difference. Were you shooting raw? Just curious.

No, I was shooting Med Jpeg, WB @ 4300K. I made the WB adjustment to the Jpeg using Adobe Camera Raw.

Just in case someone has a question on how to open a Jpeg in ACR....
Open Photoshop, and Bridge.
Find the file you want to open
Right click on it and choose "open in camera raw" from the pop up menu.

Time to pack up and get ready for the Holiday Bowl!

Hi Frank, great photos.
I agree - the colour tone was somewhat noticeable (and I realise how difficult that is under the artificial and unpredictable light). So good improvement on the last edit. All looks much better.

The composition of the last photo is also the best, imho - least cluttered background, and the story (guarding by teammates, attempts to get to the player with the ball) tell a strong story (to me). It's hard with a lot of players close not to cut off limbs, etc.

I won't be playing with a 300mm f2.8 anytime soon... thanks for the warning!! :-)

Nice series.... If you think the 300 2.8 is bad... try a 400 2.8

Very nice series and much improved with the color adjustment.

Christmas morning I got up with eager anticipation but Santa forgot to leave my 300 f/2.8
