Default Feb. Racing images (3)

OK I searched the forums for the quantity allowed per day per message and couldn't find anything. Here are 3 of my February's images from the racetrack.

1. I love to watch this guy ride.

2. This guy put his knee down at every corner. *IMPRESSED*

3. I love this one for two reasons....no cones cluttering the bg and you can see his eyes.

Thanks for looking.

Comments and Critiques encouraged.

Awesome shots. The last one of the rider with the clear visor is my favorite. Although the second isn't far behind. All three are great images with excellent framing. Like Maxsamsung I too would like to see more of your work. Do you mind if I ask what equipment you used to shoot these?

Thank you for the compliments.

I shoot the races with a canon 7D, 100-400 L IS, on a monopod.

Also I'm including exif info for the three.

1. F/9, 1/320, ISO 160, @ 400mm

2. F/9, 1/250, ISO 125, @ 400mm

3. F/10, 1/250, ISO 125, @ 400mm

All manual exposure.

Sharna, I visited your website. Very interesting story and nice pictures. How long did it take for you to be published after that first dslr?

Well, I got my first DSLR in 2006 and my first publication in 2010 so 4 years.

I started taking pix at the race track in 2009 for therapy really, but seriously in 2010. I still do it for therapy, it helps keep me mobile.

Great images and welcome to Steve's and the sports forum. 3 is definitely the best. Anytime you can see the eyes it really adds to the impact.

So, Sharna, how do you make the jump from "taking pix...for therapy" to actually being published?

Well, I met the owner of the magazine and his adult son races and I just happen to take some pix of his son winning the F1 race. I gave the son a disk and he gave me his email address and asked me if I was shooting that weekend. I said I was and he told me to have the pics to him by that night, which I did, and the rest is history. I've sent in several pics and been published 4 times. Not just of the guys son either. I did a huge piece in one of the mags, 2 pages.
I still shoot for therapy. It keeps me mobile.
