Default Photos from Virginia International Raceway

The long awaited weekend finally came and the weather was disappointing. It was very cloudy Friday for practice and qualifying and again Saturday with rain during the headlining race. The sun did actually try to come out with about 20 minutes left in the race. It was fun in spite of the crappy weather. It was good to finally get back to the track...any track. Below are shots taken during a try period of the weekend.

This is Virgina, USA? Here in NASCAR country, I didn't know these types of cars raced around here.

And Oh Yeah nice shots - While you were watching cars in the rain I was watching golf in the rain.

Andy, yes, this is Virginia USA, believe it or not. As a matter of fact it may be closer to you than you realize. It's on the VA/NC border about an hour north of either Greensboro or Raleigh/Durham. It is a world class road course that's been there a long time. No offense to NASCAR followers but I'm not a fan. I attend this event every year because I need my road racing fix and it's only a couple hours from my house. Thanks for looking.

Thanks, Tom. I agree that winning the lottery would be great. I would also like to visit your part of the world. I assume from some of your posts that you are located somewhere in the UK? Anyway, thanks for looking. Here are a few more.

Another great set of action shots, the new Camera is serving you well. I live in N.Ireland, we have a few race circuits all based around old Airfields. We also race on closed public roads which is pretty Dangerous, too many things to hit if you come off.

Regards Tom

Thanks, Tom. The D5000 is a huge improvement over the little Minolta I had been shooting with. I'd like to see one of those races on the public roads. Like you said...dangerous, but I'm sure it's quite a sight. From the pictures I've seen Northern Ireland is a beautiful place.
