Default HS Football 3 Shot Burst

These were shot with a D7000. I like the burst it's pretty quick. But started to lose focus on last pic, but they were coming towards me.

Another 3 shots from another game.

Really great captures here. Yep, 3rd shot in each series is a toss-away. But, both series illustrate the importance of burst - in both cases the 2nd shot is compelling. In the first series, the 2nd shot is the winner - defender is about the same in both but the runner's eyes are up in the 2nd shot. Second series, BOTH the first two shots are compelling. Really nice stuff and good illustration of burst.

Thanks JohnG and griffina6.
I've learned a lot by reading your comments on football JohnG.

Also the second set of burst(first pic) where the receiver is catching the ball. That shot made the front page of our local sports page today. They gave me about an 8 x 8 cover shot.

Congratulations on the cover! It really is a great capture. Although, I'm partial to defense so I love the second shot in the series

Nice job on getting the faces & the ball. I like the capture of the hit knocking the ball loose as well because I love hard hitting defense, but it's a shame that the very nature of the play made it impossible to get the faces.

Are you using center point focusing only? I started using center point plus the focus points on either side of the center with my Canon bodies & it seemed to help with this kind of problem. I don't know what your options would be with your camera model.

I have 39,21,9, and single point.
I think I used 21pt.
I will try the single point and see what happens.
But it gives me no option to use center plus either side.
