Great job Walter, being the local it looks like you know how to get around the crowd and get where you need to be to get these shots.

It looks as if there are thousands of photographers there from what I see in the paper.

Looking forward to seeing some more great surfing (and bikini?) shots from a Steve's forum local.

Yes, Mike, just about everyone had a camera. Sort of amusing to see folks taking shots with their cell phones of surfers 50-70 yards off the pier. I was using the Sigma 150-500 which was just about right considering the zooming I had to do during the surfers' rides. It was shoulder to shoulder along the pier railing and I even got bumped a few times by an inconsiderate photographer trying to force his way into a gap that wasn't there. The sights and sounds were amazing with the crowds, vendors, etc.
