I like it: Nice and sharp, nice lighting (including WB), frozen action with good expression on the players' faces.

Thanks, the lighting is very poor in there, I did, custom white balance, and had my 50d cranked up to iso2500. Some say the 50d has a lot of noise, I don't see it, this is a jpeg straight out of camera with no noise reduction.

I agree - the shot is well exposed, good WB, sharp and captures a good facial expression. Very well done.

I'm new to this forum. I have a D40 I got 7 years ago to take pictures of my son playing baseball and soccer. He is now 13 and playing basketball and I think it's time for an upgrade. Money is an issue but I want to get take great pictures, so what would you suggest as far as a camera goes and lens for shooting indoors with poor lighting?
Thanks!
