Default Best digital slr for sports/ action shots

Can anyone help. Which camera is best for action shots. My son plays hockey and the camera I have isn't good enough for good pictures. I like the speed of the D70 but is that the best one?

I'd like to stay under 1300.00. I like your examples in the thread. I guess the consecutive shot would be important too in order to capture action. My son is a goalie also. Thanks for the input.

I liked the F717 very much, but it wasn't quite enough. I'm still very much a novice at this, but I love my DigiReb. There are some very affordable zooms out there that might fit the bill, until you get the urge to buy more. More is ALWAYS better, right? That DigiReb and a lens should make it under the $1,300 mark. Here's a link to my pics. The football ones were taken with the F717, the rest with the DigiReb.

For the money, there's a very good Canon 80-200 that runs about $150 or so. Get the DigiReb and just add some stuff over time. You won't be sorry.

If you want inexpensive, look for Olympus 100RS on Ebay.

It has image stabilization.

Camera is discontinued.

max megapixels is about 1.3 I believe.
