IMO the B+W really makes this shot striking...

Taken with my 'old' 300d and Sigma 50-500 from the top off a cliff.
My 20d should be arriving tommorrow.

Thanks for the comments

Thanks vito
To be honest, if i was'nt into sports photography so much i would'nt bother with the upgrade. IMO the 300d is a great camera and i would reccomend it to anyone even if you do take sports.
But, be prepared to 'miss' shots. By this i mean the lack of AI servo in anything but sports mode is frustrating. I recently went to a MotoX meeting and this is where i really noticed this.
I could grumble about a couple things on the 300d but whats the point? It gets you good shots at the end of the day!

I guess its good to listen to other peoples opinions and advice but more importantly forming your own and getting to know your cameras is more important.

Jeeez!! Thats alot of waffle by my standards lol.

Thanks again

I think that the 300D is just not that bad for sports shots, I took 150 of high speed carts and only had 17 really bad shots.

I had a look at your website hodad66, you got some real nice shots there!
Surfing is definatly one of those sports which is real hard to shoot unless you surf yourself.
