Yeah, thats a good point travis. Especially with a net, there is a chance (small) that a foul tip could hit the lens. Good reflexes is a must haha. On a more serious note, with a 70-200mm lens, the minimum focusing length is probably around a foot. Just keep that in mind when your trying to get real close but not get hit. Also, the further you get from the fence or net, the more the lense try to focus on it, causing you to miss a good shot because the autofocus decides to be retarted. Good luck.

The angle you took the photo from and the composition here is very, very good. I would like to see a distinct jawline on the ball player, it's a little soft. Wonderful photo.
