My brother took this photo on a massive canoe/kayak trip on the Ottawa river. They went from Petawawa Point to the marina in Pembroke. It would be about 40 miles I think.
(1 1/2 hours on a no-speed bike )

Anyway, thought some of you would enjoy!

p.s. The title "up the Ottawa" is an old expression used by the locals. It describes traveling along the Ottawa river, in either direction. Actually I'ver heard it used when giving road directions as well. They are a quaint people, and I mean that lovingly.

Man that water looks cold!

I'll be heading "up the Ottawa" the first week of July. I hope to capture some long-remembered scenes to share here. I know they say "you can't go home again", but I'd like to retrace some old paths. "The Point" has changed a lot since I was there last, though. (sounds like a pun, but it isn't :-))

Interesting story. This photo taken at water level, tends to make the 40 mile trek by canoe or kayak seem even more imposing.
