Last weekend I went to a regional firefightercompetition. This is the first event of it's type that I've been to, and I thought I'd post a few photos...

1. They run up the stairs of this 40' tower carrying a 42lb pack hose.

2. At the top of the tower, they must hoista 45lb donut roll hose and then run back down the tower stairs...

3. They use a 9lb mallet to drive a 165lb beam 5 feet horizontally...

4. Run140 feet through an obstacle course...

5. Drag a charged hose 75 feet and then hit a target with the water stream...

6. Rescue a 175lb 'victim' by dragging it 100 feet to the finish line...

Some of the best competitors can do this all in under 2 minutes!

It was amazing to see these guys (and gals) in action. They are all members of local fire departments from around Maritime Canada and they put on quite a show!

Thanks for looking!

Great shots. The gear they wear weighs in at around 100lbs and is fully insulated. Believe me I know:-).

I can imagine that you'd be a bit worn out after doing all that! The set-up that was used for the competition here all packs up into a tractor-trailer and moves on to the next competition site - pretty slick.
