I like the shot from the technical aspect - it seems sharp and you froze the action well. The colors and contrast are nice. It would be nice to see it in a slightly larger size. I would suggest removing the person standing against the goal post - the football for a head distracts from the action of the shot.

What does distract me overall is from the football point of view. I am not sure what the story is. The players are too bunched up. if the red players are all offense, they screwed up - too many receivers in the area. If they are all defenders, I think there was likely some pass interference and would like to see more of the offensive player in the background. Obviously, these are issues for the coach and ref to decide, not the photographer.

Better to have shot this more straight on.

If you notice, the uprights in the background interfere with the shot.

Better to position yourself so you have the background you want and the angle you want prior to the kickoff.

Great shots happen accidently after good planning.
