Was visiting the campus and attending the game this past Saturday and pulled some strings to get field access for some pics. As always, comments & criticisms welcome:

Very nice shots and congratulations on Lake catholics victory over Bennedictine also.

Hope to see you in 3 weeks as, my team won their first round game also.

Cool shots, for sure.

Maybe shoot a little wider, as some of the crops are a little claustrophobic for me.

Also, try blurring the background on a few, by opening up the shutter.

Sometimes it's good to have the background in focus, other times blurred, but you should learn to control the effect.

Keep up the good work!

John,

These are great shots. How much schmoozing did you have to do to get that close on the sidelines? Oh wait... It was probably a grateful coach for those years you put in on the field!

I want to take this moment to thank you for not posting pictures from the Lake Catholic vs NDCL game.

Terry,

Wish I could have opened the aperture more - I was using the 100-400 (wanted to see how it could do) - I love the reach, but as you noticed, the DOF really is a problem :sad:

If they just made a 100-400 2.8 for under $2000 - oh well! Looks like I may have to invest in the Sigma 120-300 for next fall

Ron - seems like we're still on a collision course. Not familiar with the team LC plays this Friday - someone from Youngstown area.

Dale, unfortunately I wasn't able to make the NDCL game so no pics to post. Alas, I didn't play college football (too small) but where there's a will there's a way and once on the sidelines no one looked at me twice - just another photographer taking photos.
