Got the great opportunity to shoot Washington State University footballthis fall, ended up covering eight games. Would have been nice if the Cougs had done better than 1-7 in conference and gotten to a bowl game, but I wouldn't have been able to cover a bowl game anyway since I'm getting married Dec. 31 (hence part of the reason I haven't been here in so long).
Anyway, here are some photo essays from some of the games I covered this fall, starting with Saturday's WSU win over Washington in the Apple Cup. Comments/feedback/suggestions welcome.

Of note, all but one of the shots I took was using a 80-200 (non AF-S) Nikon on a D1H. Definitely times I wanted more reach, but tight budget dictated staying with the 80-200. If I get the chance to do it again, I will be sure to talk VERY sweetly with fellow photogs and try to borrow some good pool equipment, i.e. a 400 (or even 300) 2.8 AF-S.:G

Some nice pictures. Good work. Looks like you're on your way to working for a local newspaper. Now, if I could do this at a Fresno State football game, and if they could get into the PAC-10 and out of the WAC :-)

If you really want people to see your pictures and make comments you would be better off to post them here. You're asking everyone to click six different links. Most people are not going to bother. I love sport pictures and I only clicked one.

The pictures seem pretty good but the size in that newsletter format is a little small. I bet you would get a ton of comments if you post a few here.

apekt--Thanks. These shots were for a website, but mainly I shoot for a couple of local papers and auto racing magazines. I thought Fresno State would finally hand USC a loss there, too bad it didn't happen.
nicepic--I guess I didn't want to start a thread with a ton of pics and hog Steve's bandwidth, since the pics were already being hosted elsewhere it didn't seem fair to Steve to duplicate the hosting. But maybe I'll do just that. The pics are mostly vertical and downsized since that's the type and size of shots my editor uses.

Per nicepic's suggestion, here are some shots from the links I posted earlier. I took one shot from each link; if you want to see more or get information, please go to those links. Thanks.

Heh, us and the rest of the nation thought (and hoped) Fresno State was going to win, also. I blame it on somewhat bad officiating (as with the Oregon and Nevada games), and A LOT of missed assignments. The defense has been messing up quite a bit. Also, the reason I say that there is bad officiating is that 1) Fresno State messing with two nationally ranked PAC-10 teams ('nuff said) 2) Ref's are always blind when it comes to the visiting team. I could probably ramble on about it, but I won't. All I have to say is Fresno State better not lose to Louisiana Tech tomorrow.

As for the comments, anytime. That's why I'm here. That and I like your pictures. I really do need to go back to school and get an A.S. in photography. Maybe get into photojournalism and cover college football. :-):-) Who knows..

Keep up the good work, murphyc.

Love your shots and I'm pulling hard for UCLA to dash USC's three-peat hopes today.

Fresno State made USC fight long and hard for their win a couple of weeks ago. It must have been frustrating to score over 40 points and lose! 40 points is usually enough to win a couple of games, let alone one!

Look forward to seeing more of your sports shots. Are you getting ready for NCAA hoops now?
